Would Sci-Fi have been different if The Fly had been something else?

 Suppose there was no fly. What if something else had gotten into the Teleport Pod with Seth Brundle. Would a movie called The Stomach Contents have worked? Maybe that is a little too obvious. How about The Club Sandwich? There is an air of  mystery there. Is he half man half lettuce, or a full-on hardcore sandwich chimera? Cherry tomatoes for eyes, lettuce for hair, a pig nose, and chicken legs. Maybe I'm confusing this with those Saturday morning public service/educational commercials from when I was a kid. "Don't Drown Your Food."

There would seem to be a wealth of non-human organic matter just floating in the acid bag of any one person.

 Maybe Seth had an appetizer of caviar before lunch, would that give him gills, or just make for a new career as a CNN pundit? If he had a Guinness with his meal would he then fart yeast and dissolve people into beer? Could be handy at the next tailgate party.... Whatever the case, at least now I feel like I have done something productive at work for the day.
